Happy Independence Day

Happy 4th of July!! I know that this day is often viewed as a day off work, or barbeques and fireworks. and i even tend to forget the greater meaning behind this day of celebration. i'd like to share with you something that i read, i didn't write it, but i fully agree with each word.

I know this country was established not by coincidence or chance, but because God willed it. I know that His way is to allow all men freedom to make choices and that very principle gave fire to our Forefathers to Declare the Colonies independent of England.

I know the men who established the Constitution were inspired of God to create a near perfect document and that they did so with the thought of our generation in mind... perhaps I was there watching that historic occasion just as this artist portrayed.

I know that this country will remain free so long as our people live righteously and follow Him. God has always been with His people. I pray our leaders will seek inspiration often and that our people will use their energy and prayers to support and elect good public servants.

and just a little side note, 7 years today, jon proposed to me. i was up in Alaska visiting him for a week. i had such a great time, and the week was winding down and i was going to be leaving the next day. i was getting worried he wasn't going to propose. but, he took me out to the glaciers, and with a wonderful speech, asked me to go on the journey with him, wherever it lead us. it wasn't lame or cheesy. it was so very sincere and honest, just like jon.

it's funny, we now joke that he gave up his independence on america's independence day. i am so very glad that he did!
